The Journal is indexed within the national bibliographic database of scientific citation Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).

The Journal was established in 2003. Since December 1, 2015, the journal is included in the list of peer-reviewed scientific journals which should publish the main scientific results of dissertations for the degrees of Candidate of Sciences and Doctor of Sciences, approved by the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, for the academic specialties: 13.00.00 — pedagogical sciences; 14.03.00 – medical and life sciences.

The main objective of the journal is to publish original scientific articles in pedagogics and psychology and articles addressing current issues of theory and methodology of physical education and sport, sport training, adapted physical culture, medical and biological issues in physical culture and sport, high-performance sport, theory and methodology of higher professional education in physical culture and sport. 

Scope: pedagogics and psychology, theory and methodology of physical education and sport, medical and biological issues in physical culture and sport, high-performance sport, theory and methodology of higher professional education in physical education and sport. The Editorial Board may issue separate supplements to the journal including online issues.

Periodicity: the journal is issued 6 times a year in printed form. Published materials are also posted in the Internet after publication of the printed version. 

Publication fee: fee for publications is not charged.

Peer review: articles submitted to the Journal undergo anonymous peer-review. Review is provided to the author without giving any information about the reviewer. If necessary, reviewing may also be done using the double-blind method – information about the author is not disclosed to the reviewer.
